Volleyball Game Preview: Mehlville Panthers vs. Rockwood Summit Falcons

The Mehlville Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Rockwood Summit Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mehlville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Lindbergh, who was ranked fourth at the time (Mehlville was ranked 14th). The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flyers on Monday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Mehlville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Rockwood Summit came up short against Kirkwood on Monday and fell 3-1. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Kirkwood scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-20, 26-28, 25-19.

Rockwood Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8-1. As for Mehlville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Mehlville beat Rockwood Summit 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
