Softball Recap: Stone Tomcats vs. East Central Hornets

Stone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Central Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Tuesday.

Emalynn Gibson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Laila Bullen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Stone's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for East Central, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Coming up, Stone will be playing in front of their home fans against Laurel at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Central, they will square off against Neshoba Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
