Baseball Game Preview: Hendersonville Bearcats vs. Brevard Blue Devils

The Hendersonville Bearcats will head out to take on the Brevard Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hendersonville had taken Smoky Mountain down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. Hendersonville lost 23-12 to Smoky Mountain. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bearcats have suffered against the Mustangs since March 29, 2019.

Hendersonville got a good showing from Zach Elkins, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Aidan Burlett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Martiste Mills was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Brevard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Patton, falling 8-0.

Hendersonville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Brevard's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
