Softball Game Preview: Everett Seagulls vs. Edmonds-Woodway Warriors

The Everett Seagulls will venture away from home to square off against the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Everett will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Jackson, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Seagulls' pitchers stepped up to hand the Timberwolves an 8-0 shutout on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edmonds-Woodway). They blew past Lynnwood 20-5 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Helena Marsh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Edmonds-Woodway let Noa Gillespie and Bella Swanson run wild. Gillespie got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Swanson went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Gillespie has posted since back in April of 2025. Maddie Jones also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Edmonds-Woodway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Everett's record now sits at 4-2. As for Edmonds-Woodway, their record is now 2-3.

Everett couldn't quite get it done against Edmonds-Woodway when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Seagulls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
