Softball Recap: Triton Central's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Triton Central hadn't done well against Eastern Hancock recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Royals. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Lillian Fillippinie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Triton Central's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madison Collins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jalynn Keith was another, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

Triton Central pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eastern Hancock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triton Central will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will face off against Warren Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
