Baseball Game Preview: Godby Cougars vs. Menendez Falcons

The Godby Cougars will face off against the Menendez Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Godby took on St. John Paul II on Friday. Godby lost 14-4 to St. John Paul II.

Israel Williams and Amari Jones stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williams scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Jones scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jones has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Patrick Garland also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Menendez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against St. Joseph Academy, falling 12-5.

Menendez saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reeve Power, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Power a new career-high. Lucas Drake was another, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Godby's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Menendez, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
