Baseball Recap: Maranatha Christian Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Maranatha Christian took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Santa Fe Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Maranatha Christian won by a run and slipped past Santa Fe Christian 8-7. This was payback for Maranatha Christian, who suffered a 12-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Evan Wied was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Ruiz, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two doubles.

Maranatha Christian pushed their record up to 5-18 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for Santa Fe Christian, they moved to 11-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Maranatha Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against Santa Fe Christian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
