Basketball Recap: Chesterton Comes Up Short

Chesterton lost against Warsaw back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chesterton Trojans had to suffer through a 90-29 loss at the hands of the Warsaw Tigers. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Chesterton still got an impressive performance from Allison Van Kley, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave Van Kley a new career-high.

Warsaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joslyn Bricker led the charge by as she made all 8 shots she took for 21 points along with five assists and five boards. Bricker's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Zartman, who went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 25 points and three steals.

Chesterton's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Warsaw, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Chesterton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-43 loss against Westville on the 8th. As for Warsaw, they will face off against Northridge at 7:45 p.m. on January 11th. Warsaw knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Northridge likes a good challenge.
