Baseball Recap: Sunset Beats Belen Jesuit for Their Third Straight Win

Sunset had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Belen Jesuit Wolverines. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolverines, too.

Jonalexander Rivera made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Christopher Gonzalez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Rafael Sosa also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Sunset kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sunset picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 9-11. As for Belen Jesuit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Sunset will square off against TERRA Environmental at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belen Jesuit, they will challenge South Dade at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
