Football Recap: Greer Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Greer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 49-9 loss at the hands of the James F. Byrnes Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Rebels are ranked seventh).

Despite the loss, Greer had strong showings from Calvin McCoy, who rushed for 86 yards and one score, and Zay. Moseley, who picked up 77 receiving yards.

Tre Segarra went supernova For James F. Byrnes., rushing for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards and one TD. Those 145 rushing yards gave Segarra a new career-high. Caine Rogers was another key player, throwing for 164 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes.

Greer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for James F. Byrnes, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Greer will look to defend their home field on Friday against Berea at 7:30 p.m. The match will give the Yellow Jackets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for James F. Byrnes, they will square off against Wade Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
