Juab is 9-1 against Richfield since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wasps will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. Juab will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Juab proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Delta, sneaking past 9-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 2, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Trevin Park was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madix Stowell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Juab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Richfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over North Sanpete on Friday.
Garrett Wayman made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wayman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malik Fautin, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.
Juab pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Richfield, their record is now 6-10.
Juab's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Wasps have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Richfield, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Juab continue to outrun the ball?
Juab took their win against Richfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-4 score. Do the Wasps have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
