Basketball Recap: Winchester Thurston Takes a Loss

Winchester Thurston entered their game against Sewickley Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Winchester Thurston took a blow against Sewickley Academy, falling 70-40. While losing is never fun, Winchester Thurston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Sewickley Academy is ranked 162nd).

Winchester Thurston's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Sewickley Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Winchester Thurston will square off against Freedom Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sewickley Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 70-28 win against Sto-Rox on the 26th.
