A feisty cat fight will be fought as Whitehouse Wildcats face off against Lufkin Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Whitehouse sitting on nine straight wins and Lufkin on six.
On Tuesday, Whitehouse got the win against Jacksonville by a conclusive 14-2. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Morris made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Whitehouse let Riley Ohlsen and Shilee Yutterman run wild. Ohlsen went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Yutterman went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Yutterman a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Kyndal Morris, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Whitehouse always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Lufkin never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Jacksonville 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lufkin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whitehouse, their record now sits at 14-6.
Everything went Whitehouse's way against Lufkin when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as Whitehouse made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitehouse since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
