Soccer Game Preview: Athens Christian vs. Washington-Wilkes

The Athens Christian Eagles will take on the Washington-Wilkes Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington-Wilkes took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Athens Christian, who comes in off a win.

Athens Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Greene County a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The game was close at halftime, but Athens Christian turned on the heat in the second half with five goals.

They hit Greene County with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Presley Hembree (2), Claire Wood (2), Ruth Banjoko, and Kaiya Smoot.

Meanwhile, Washington-Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Lincoln County.

Washington-Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Athens Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
