Football Recap: Western Piles Up the Points Against San Dimas

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western). They blew past the San Dimas Saints, posting a 55-6 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pioneers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Saints are ranked 255th).

It was another big night for Chance Thomas, who threw for 336 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 15.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.6 passing touchdowns per game. Western's leading receiver Maxwell 'Bunchie' Young was Thomas' top target yet again, picking up 136 receiving yards and four TDs.

The win made it two in a row for Western and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. As for San Dimas, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Western and San Dimas will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Pioneers see the field they'll take on Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for San Dimas, their break will end when they face Diamond Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
