Northpoint Christian is 0-3 against Lewisburg since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. Northpoint Christian will face off against Lewisburg at 6:30 p.m. Northpoint Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.
Northpoint Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Houston 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this matchup were averaging 3.8 runs allowed.
Trinity Garvin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Hannah Bostain was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Katy Bobo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Northpoint Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lewisburg faced DeSoto Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Lewisburg took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of DeSoto Central. The Patriots have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Leona-Klaire Stokes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Northpoint Christian pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lewisburg, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-7.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northpoint Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .443. However, it's not like Lewisburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northpoint Christian might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Lewisburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can Northpoint Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
