Recap: Arcata Tigers vs. Rancho Cotate Cougars
The Arcata Tigers posted their biggest victory since November 25, 2023 on Saturday. Everything went their way against Rancho Cotate as Arcata made off with a 68-43 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Arcata.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Decimus Shaw, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Adam Pengel was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Arcata now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Rancho Cotate, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arcata will take on Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Norte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 826th, while Arcata is ranked 407th). As for Rancho Cotate, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Maria Carrillo at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Maria Carrillo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
