Baseball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss

If Derby was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Waterbury Career Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Raiders came up short against the Torrington Raiders on Wednesday, falling 18-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost eight in a row.

Jose Frias was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Derby's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Derby will venture away from home to square off against Wilby at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Torrington, they will head out to take on Wolcott at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
