Basketball Recap: Amarius Rowel Key Part of a Team Effort in Falcons Win

Independence came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Liberty Patriots with a sharp 61-38 win on Thursday. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 52-47 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

Independence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amarius Rowel, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Rowel's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aamir Smith, who posted 12 points.

Independence's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Independence will square off against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is facing Ridgeview at the right time seeing as Ridgeview is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Liberty, they will challenge Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
