Baseball Game Preview: Staunton Storm vs. Wilson Memorial Green Hornets

Staunton hasn't had much luck against Wilson Memorial recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Storm will venture away from home to square off against the Green Hornets at 6:30 p.m.

Staunton is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 30, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Riverheads by a score of 6-4. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Wilson Memorial waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They beat the Cougars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Green Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Wilson Memorial's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Staunton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Staunton might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Wilson Memorial in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
