The Gulf Coast Sharks will square off against the Immokalee Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Gulf Coast's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Bishop Verot on Friday. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Vikings. The Sharks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Immokalee took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-3 victory over Aubrey Rogers. Considering the Indians have won six games by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Gulf Coast better keep an eye on Marshon Jackson. He was instrumental in Immokalee's win, picking up 66 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 41 yards and one TD. Jackson got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 55 yards.
Immokalee's run defense was locked in: Aubrey Rogers could only muster 2.1 yards per carry. The Indians didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.3.
Immokalee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Jose Fenelon picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Immokalee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.7 points on average over those games. As for Gulf Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Gulf Coast has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Immokalee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 241.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
