Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Imater Charter's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but IMater Charter ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sports Leadership & Management, sneaking past 8-7. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Luis Hernandez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Alexey Fuentes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Castillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

IMater Charter has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IMater Charter will square off against Coral Reef at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will face off against Mater Bay Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
