Baseball Recap: Country Christian Snags 13th Victory in Last 14 Games

Country Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Grant Union Prospectors on Monday as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Ethan Hiebenthal made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Hiebenthal was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Country Christian let Andrew Ives and Peyton Waggener run wild. Ives went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Waggener went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jesse Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Country Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Grant Union, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-12.

Country Christian has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Knappa on the 28th. Grant Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
