Basketball Recap: Tawas Area Takes a Loss

Tawas Area lost against Alcona back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tawas Area Braves took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alcona Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while the Tigers are ranked 242nd).

Evan Borsvold continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alcona, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Borsvold has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Edju Hechlik was another key player, as he made all 6 shots he took for 12 points.

Tawas Area dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Alcona, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Tawas Area has already played their next matchup (against Alpena), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alcona will head out to face off against Heston Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th.
