Baseball Recap: Emery Gets the Win

Emery won the last time they faced North Sanpete and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Hayden Abrams and Trygg Jensen were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Abrams didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Jensen tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Emery is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-10 otherwise. At the plate, Abrams scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Jensen scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Beau Stilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Emery is undefeated when Stilson posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

Emery's record is now 6-11. As for North Sanpete, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, North Sanpete will welcome South Summit at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Emery will be paying especially close attention to the Hawks' game: after the Hawks faces off against the Wildcats, they'll take on Emery again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
