Softball Recap: Pebble Hills Has No Trouble Against Franklin

Pebble Hills's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over the Franklin Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pebble Hills let Layla Torres and Madison Dela Cruz run wild. Torres scored three runs while getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances, while Dela Cruz scored three runs while going 2-for-6. Those three runs gave Dela Cruz a new career-high. Daniela Armendariz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Pebble Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Pebble Hills' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-17 record. As for Franklin, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-16-1.

Coincidentally, Pebble Hills and Franklin will both be playing Coronado the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
