Basketball Recap: Dorchester Academy Comes Up Short

Dorchester Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 108th).

Calhoun Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Strickland out in front who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and six boards. The game was Strickland's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Lindsay, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Dorchester Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Calhoun Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Dorchester Academy will host Cathedral Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun Academy, they will square off against Greenwood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
