Softball Game Preview: Orange Cove Titans vs. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears

Orange Cove is a perfect 9-0 against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Titans will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Orange Cove has eight straight victories, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Orange Cove and Wonderful College Prep Academy, and Orange Cove kept the tradition alive. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolves a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Titans have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Talingo was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allyanah Cano, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Orange Cove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matches.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Summit Charter Collegiate Academy and Orosi had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bears came up short against the Cardinals on Thursday, falling 17-10. Bears fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cardinals since on Thursday.

Orange Cove pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
