Alcorn Central waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the New Albany Bulldogs as they made off with an 8-1 win. Eight seems to be a good number for the Bears as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Sydnee Norman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Lexie Dixon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Alcorn Central pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Albany, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Alcorn Central and New Albany will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Alcorn Central sees the field they'll take on Mantachie at 6:30 p.m. on April 1. As for New Albany, their break will end when they face Independence at 6:30 p.m. on April 7.
