Basketball Recap: Largo Falls Despite Big Games from Laiana Mcclinton and Ana Leka

Largo lost against Palm Harbor University back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Largo Packers came up short against the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes, falling 62-42. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 169th).

Largo's loss came despite strong showings from Ana Leka and Laiana McClinton. Leka posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while McClinton almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Leka a new career-high in steals.

Kylie Smith had a dynamite game for Palm Harbor University, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. Smith is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Lavelle, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Largo dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palm Harbor University, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Largo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-25 win against Hollins on the 12th. As for Palm Harbor University, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-41 loss against Countryside on the 11th.
