The Paw Paw Red Wolves will take on the Coloma Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Paw Paw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Paw Paw came out on top against Otsego on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Red Wolves put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 8-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Red Wolves have posted against the Bulldogs since May 26, 2022.

Gunnar Goodell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Andrew Lehto was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Remi Dempsey, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Paw Paw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otsego only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, Coloma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Watervliet. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered against the Panthers since May 30, 2017.
Paw Paw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Coloma, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Paw Paw took their victory against Coloma when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Red Wolves repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
