Basketball Game Preview: Olathe Pirates vs. Telluride Miners

The Olathe Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Telluride Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olathe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

Olathe is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Grand Valley on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Olathe lost 75-52 to Grand Valley. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isaiah Gordon put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 19 points and six boards. His afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Almanza, who earned four points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Telluride hadn't done well against Mancos recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Telluride took down Mancos 51-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Telluride has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Olathe, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Olathe came up short against Telluride in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 48-42. Can Olathe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
