Basketball Recap: Jer'meer Hatcher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thomson over Burke County

Thomson was the 74-56 winner over Burke County when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Thomson Bulldogs fell to the Burke County Bears 69-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Thomson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jer'Meer Hatcher, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amon Few, who had 15 points.

Burke County found their leader in freshman De'Quayvian Lovette, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Lovette's third in a row with at least ten points. T.K. Reeves also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Thomson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Burke County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Thomson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 80-55 win against Glenn Hills on the 14th. As for Burke County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-37 victory against Josey on the 14th.
