Baseball Game Preview: Douglas Eagles vs. Pinson Valley Indians

The Douglas Eagles will face off against the Pinson Valley Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Douglas came up short against Brewer on Tuesday, falling 12-4.

Meanwhile, Pinson Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ramsay.

Justice Lockwood was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Nathan Lewis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Adam Taylor was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Douglas' defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Pinson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Douglas skirted past Pinson Valley 9-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Douglas repeat their success, or does Pinson Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
