Football Preview: Ardsley Panthers vs. Pleasantville Panthers

Ardsley are taking a road trip to challenge Pleasantville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Ardsley's last matchup with Westlake could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Panthers were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 41-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered against the Wildcats since September 10, 2016.

Meanwhile, Pleasantville made easy work of Hendrick Hudson on Friday and carried off a 41-16 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Sailors are ranked 369th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ardsley better keep an eye on David Hundzynski. He was instrumental in Pleasantville's win, rushing for 104 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Connor Day was in the mix as well, providing the Panthers with one TD.

Pleasantville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pleasantville's defense and their four sacks. Michael Pellon was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 2.5 himself. Pleasantville received some extra help from Day, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win made it two in a row for Pleasantville and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.5 points over those games. As for Ardsley, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Ardsley strolled past Pleasantville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-14. Will Ardsley repeat their success, or does Pleasantville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
