The team relied heavily on Liam Parsons, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for East Mecklenburg: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Mallard Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Mecklenburg only posted an OBP of .067.
East Mecklenburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mallard Creek, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Mecklenburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. However, it's not like Mallard Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
