McMichael falls despite strong effort from Cody Beck

Recap: McMichael Phoenix vs. West Forsyth Titans

The McMichael Phoenix pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 79-56 defeat to West Forsyth might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, McMichael can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while West Forsyth is ranked 55th).

Despite the loss, McMichael still got an impressive performance from Cody Beck, who scored 12 points. Beck continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Belcher, who scored ten points.

Jacari Brim was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five assists and two steals for West Forsyth. Brim hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Brayden Adams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.

McMichael has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for West Forsyth, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McMichael will take on North Forsyth at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for North Forsyth and seven for McMichael. As for West Forsyth, West Forsyth and East Forsyth will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Forsyth is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
