Recap: Sutter Huskies vs. Bear River Bruins
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Sutter Huskies ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Bear River with a 55-50 win. For Sutter, this counts as revenge for the 60-58 loss Bear River walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Leading Sutter to victory were Naseem Bhatti and Gannon Deal. Bhatti scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Deal scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Deal scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Ward, who scored five points along with two steals.
Sutter is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Bear River, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Twelve Bridges at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. Twelve Bridges will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Bear River, they will head out on the road to square off against Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Colfax is ranked 643rd, while Bear River is ranked 664th).
