Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montezuma-Cortez). Everything went their way against the Taos Tigers on Saturday as Montezuma-Cortez made off with a 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Evan Woody was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Oakes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Montezuma-Cortez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Montezuma-Cortez's record is now 6-1. As for Taos, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Coming up, Montezuma-Cortez will take on Smoky Hill in a tournament on Friday. As for Taos, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Taos Tigers face off against Robertson Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Robertson has averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
