Basketball Game Preview: Guntersville Wildcats vs. Plainview Bears

Guntersville is 0-4 against Plainview since December of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It was a proper cat-fight when Guntersville challenged Spring Garden on Saturday. Guntersville received a blow as they fell 48-30 to Spring Garden. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Plainview has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scottsboro on Friday. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 12-5 in the first quarter.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Guntersville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Guntersville suffered a grim 54-34 defeat to Plainview when the teams last played back in November of 2019. Can Guntersville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
