Baseball Preview: Lockney Longhorns vs. Wellington Skyrockets
The Lockney Longhorns will take on the Wellington Skyrockets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Last Friday, Lockney made easy work of Quanah and carried off an 11-4 win.

Dyllan Thiebaud was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Xavier Jimenez was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aatrayu Leal, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Wellington had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Whirlwinds get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Skyrockets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 22nd.
Lockney is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Wellington, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Lockney came out on top in a nail-biter against Wellington in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Skyrockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
