Game recap: Cameron Yoe High School Football Team defeats Marlin

MARLIN, Texas - Cameron Yoe (Cameron, Texas) beat Marlin (Texas) 45-10 on the strength of Jason Kopriva, who tossed four touchdown passes.

The Yoemen led 10-7 at halftime, but the Bulldogs regained the lead on a field goal with 8:00 left in the third. Cameron Yoe finally took the lead for good when Kopriva threw a touchdown to Colton Shuffield with 2:00 remaining in the third quarter.

CY grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Cameron school scored two times in the third, including once on a Kopriva touchdown pass to Shuffield.

The Yoemen locked in the win by scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 35.



Cameron Yoe's most effective player was Kopriva. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.

Marlin's lone touchdown came on a 15-yard run in the first quarter.

CY entered the contest giving up 18.1 points per game this year.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 24-14 win for the Cameron school.

The win brought Cameron Yoe's winning streak to three games. The loss was the third in a row for Marlin.

In a 2A-1 Region IV District 13 game next week Marlin (4-5) takes on Troy, and Cameron Yoe (8-1) will go up against Florence also in a 2A-1 Region IV District 13 game.
