Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Wichita County Indians

Southwestern Heights and Wichita County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Southwestern Heights Mustangs will host the Wichita County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Southwestern Heights is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Deerfield, posting a 68-34 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wichita County made easy work of Golden Plains on Tuesday and carried off a 69-45 victory. While fans of the Indians might be used to big wins, the 24-point margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Wichita County's win came from a few key players Southwestern Heights will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Christian Figueroa, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those six steals gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Francisco Figueroa, who went 9 of 16 en route to 22 points.

Wichita County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southwestern Heights, they moved to 4-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
