Game recap: Poteet High School Football Team tops North Forney

MESQUITE, Texas - Leading by 38 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop Poteet (Mesquite, Texas) from scoring, as it added 14 points in the final quarter on the way to a 59-7 victory over North Forney (Forney, Texas) on Saturday.

The Pirates were up 24-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Tanner Ramsey to Buck Roges in the second quarter.

Poteet expanded its lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored three times in the third, including once on a Jaylon Smith touchdown run.

The Mesquite school's standout player in the win was Ramsey. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns.

The Falcons' lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run in the first quarter.



The Pirates came into the game allowing 14.0 points per game. The seven points that North Forney ended with were well below its average of 18.9 coming into the game.

Poteet (8-1) goes up against West Mesquite in a 4A Region II District 10 game matchup next week, while North Forney (2-7) locks horns with Creekview also in a 4A Region II District 10 game.
