Basketball Game Preview: Old Lyme Wildcats vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans

The Old Lyme Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Shepaug Valley Spartans at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Old Lyme comes in on 11 and Shepaug Valley on 27.

Old Lyme is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They beat Grasso Tech by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 77-71.

Meanwhile, Shepaug Valley strolled past Thomaston with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 70-51.

Old Lyme better keep an eye on Reed Woerner. He was instrumental in Shepaug Valley's win, dropping a double-double with 36 points and ten rebounds. Woerner's evening made it 25 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. James Kersten was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.

Shepaug Valley's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-0. As for Old Lyme, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.
