Baseball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Trojans vs. Granite Bay Grizzlies

The Oak Ridge Trojans will head out to challenge the Granite Bay Grizzlies at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Oak Ridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Del Oro on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Oak Ridge got a good showing from Jackson Molloy, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Molloy has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Noah Teply was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alekxander Bentley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Davis Sr. hit Granite Bay with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 7-5. The Grizzlies' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Granite Bay also got a good showing from Cade Taylor, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Andrew Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Oak Ridge's record is now 9-13. As for Granite Bay, their record now sits at 8-14.

Oak Ridge might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Granite Bay when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
