Recap: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Castle View Sabercats
A well-balanced attack led the Ponderosa Mustangs over the Castle View Sabercats in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Ponderosa strolled past Castle View with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. That's another feather in the cap for Ponderosa, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ponderosa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Keach, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Dylan Karsteter was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Castle View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Vitorio Dante. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.1% of Castle View's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Larenzo Dixon, who scored six points.
Ponderosa pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Castle View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will take on Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Highlands Ranch's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. As for Castle View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Castle View in Colorado (Douglas County is ranked 17th, while Castle View is ranked 63rd).
