Baseball Game Preview: Goddard Rockets vs. Artesia Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Goddard will face off against Artesia. The Rockets will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Goddard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Goddard's offense. They fell 5-0 to Artesia on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Rockets in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Carmelo Ortega was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

The win (which was Artesia's seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Goddard, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
