Baseball Recap: Waverly Extends Winning Streak to Five

While Waverly put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Ludington. The Warriors put the hurt on the Orioles with a sharp 7-0 win. The Warriors' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Iggy Arroyo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Arroyo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Owens, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gomez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Waverly's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ludington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Waverly will venture away from home to take on Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ludington, they will host Manistee at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
