Football Game Preview: Long Reach Lightning vs. Howard Lions

Long Reach hasn't had much luck against Howard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lightning will square off against the Lions. Long Reach has given up an average of 29 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Long Reach's last matchup with Guilford Park could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Lightning had to suffer through a 46-0 loss at the hands of the Panther. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Panther are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Howard came up short against Oakland Mills on Thursday and fell 21-12.

Long Reach will have to keep a close watch on Darius Moore and Donte Jones, a pair of players who had a big impact on Howard's prior game. Moore rushed for 82 yards and a pair of scores, while Jones rushed for 65 yards.

Howard's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Long Reach, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Long Reach was dealt a bruising 41-12 loss at the hands of Howard when the teams last played back in October. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
